Man is it cold...

Snapped some pics of a my best friend's family this weekend...it was crazy cold but fun! I was honored to be asked to take pictures of this generous, loving and fun family. I hope that I captured some of what they had in mind. I have only had time to edit a few of the pictures but here are a couple of my favorites!

4/52

I loved this shirt the moment I saw it! And so does Anesa! I am always trying to talk to the girls about how fragile and precious our earth is...thought it was so symbolic for it to be in the shape of a heart...another thing that is so fragile and precious to humans. I was really struggling with this week theme as I have been housebound and taking pictures has been low on priority list! But when I saw Anesa looking down and picking at the little blue and green "bubbles" on her shirt I grabbed my camera! Now the pressure is off this week....actually surprised I have made it this long but didn't want to be a totally slacker and skip week 4 (can't be too hard to take 4 pics)! Here is my sensitive soul who wears her heart on her sleeve (or shirt in this case)!

Can't Sleep!

Restless tonight so I am fooling around with fonts...something that I have never done with before...it is way harder than I thought it would be! Of course I don't like anything is a straight line so trying to get text on a curve is tricky! Here is a picture that I took of Anesa for week 2 of 52. The theme was a song name inspired by the photo! I really like this picture of Anesa but I am not sure if I am totally in love with the edit!

FINALLY!

I have finally gotten Epiphaine bag! The first shipment I received my bag in the wrong color but customer service was fantastic and they shipped the new bag the same day that I emailed them about the one that I had! Thought I would include a coupld of pics. I am really happy that I went with a taller purse...just have to figure out how I am going to store my camera! Can't wait to use it and use it often!

Here is my picture for Week 3 of Project 52...not very creative I know...

Here is the same picture with a different texture...

Winter Beauty!

I struggle so much taking pictures in the winter season! There are a couple of things that factor in to this "struggle" such as the simple fact that I HATE being cold so quite frankly I would rather gnaw parts of my body off then venture outside to take pictures; I have SERIOUS white balance issues in the winter; I also have serious lighting issues! Anyway because I have such serious issues in this season and it happens to last 8 months of the year I better get over it and practice! Today while I was taking Anesa to dance the sun popped out and there was still frost on the trees! I was running a few minutes late but I really wanted to stop and take some pictures. I decided that I would shoot from the van since I did not have time to get out...yeah right it was so bloody cold that there was not way I was going to get out! Here are a couple of snaps from today!

Project 52

I have found a project that I think that I can tackle! While I envy all of my friends who are taking part in Project 365, I know deep down that my "Hakuna Matata" philosophy might not be the best approach and I would constantly feel guilty about being a slacker(I do this enough already so don't need another thing to feel like I slack at;) Anyway, I received and email the other day from MCP about
Project 52:photo a week and I thought...now this is something I could handle...if I miss a couple weeks here or there, I will just steal from another week and it won't be that big of deal...Project 45 (only slacking on 7 occasions) instead of Project 100(and trying to scramble to get 265 more pictures from other days...I know exactly is the way I would attempt my Project 365)!

Another thing that caught my attention was that the weeks are "themed", which is really good from this working mom, who coaches, volunteers and tries to do the odd thing to make it seem like she as a bit of a life and oh yeah isn't very creative! Every Saturday a theme is posted and you can either let it inspire you or not...this past weeks theme was {around the house}! It just so happens that followed the first weeks theme...without even knowing it(surprise!)... the girls are BABY crazy...they do everything from take their babies to Minot to taking them into see the doctor/nurse to playing DC (which happens to be my favorite). Today the were playing DC (daycare) and some of the babies fell off the playground and they had to take them in to see the nurses (which just happened to be them!)....gotta love kids! When Rowyn was napping and Anesa was watching TV I snapped this picture as it totally reminded me of what their "thing" is right at this moment! You have to LOVE the band aids on their foreheads...they lined them up on the couch to watch TV and covered them with a blanket....to recover from their falls ;)

Tiara is a fancy word for Headband!

Anesa has been doing her hair the last couple of days and I am loving her"creations". She is so creative with her clothing and hairdos! I have to say I can't wait each morning she is choosen as her outfit (actually she changes 8-10 times a day so usually in the morning I enjoy it but by mid-morning I am asking her if she is hanging up what she has just changed out of!)...you never know what she is going to come out wearing! I think that it is pretty obvious that she is SO into Fancy Nancy right now!

THANK YOU!!!!!!

A big THANKS to Regan for taking our family pictures for our Christmas card and to Jana for designing the card!

So sad to see holidays over! Can't wait until next year!

Not Quite Right...

Well I have made my new slides but something is just not quite right with the timing of my slideshow! I have to say that I am quite proud of myself b/c I am so computer illiterate it hurts! A big thank you to Rita who continually answered my questions and helped me along the way! Here is a link to her fab website Coffeeshop!

I am going to be so tired tomorrow but pumped with what I go accomplished! This weekend I will post some pics our Christmas holiday!

Here are some snaps from today...girls went outside with dad, we cleaned the house and mom tried to get some pictures in terrible light!

Anesa fooling around while we were trying to make Rowyn's bed...I {heart} this girl!

Rowyn "helping" dad and Anesa make the hill for our future quinzee!

Here is the SHOT of the day ;) Had this hairbrain idea today that I wanted to take a picture of myself...just seconds later Ryan decided to take the girls outside...I was actually going to do my hair which is a really big deal. Anyway, I didn't have any time to beautify (surprise) as I was bundling the kidlets to head outside. ("I only have one mitt.", "Where's my toque?", "I only have one mitt.", "I'm getting hot." "I only have one mitt." ~ found the mitt under the coffee table where I am sure our four legged friend strategically placed it so she could watch all four of us run around like fools...should have checked there first!). When I finally got out...talked to some friends...I realized that my friends had managed to pawn off 2 dogs that had been following them around town and pestering them! Well great that is just what I needed...assistance with no talent...but I plugged away setting up my tripod and camera. It would have been quite funny to watch as these dogs were really hyper and jumping all over me and even knocked the tripod over (before I had camera on...thankfully). I only got a couple of shots because they kept wrestling beside and on me. Wish I would have got a shot with them in it but they must be camera shy because everytime the timer beeped the got out of the way. Well, to make a long story short...yeah right...I should have applied the texture a little dark as it is not a very good picture and I am covered in snow but wanted to rememeber it and share the story so thought I would post it!

Happy first day back to school all my teacher friends! See you tomorrow!

Messed...

Ok...today I thought that I would try and change the slideshow on my blog! Well, it turns out that I don't have the patience for it! Tried a couple times...I am sure you can tell by the wacky things that my slideshow is doing now! I was somehow smart enough to copy and paste the old "codes" so that when my new ones flopped I had that to fall back on...lol! But it looks like I didn't quite get it right :) I am going to keep trying until I get it so...don't judge me...;)

Addicted...

I have found a new texture that I am in love with...I want to put it on every pic that I have! Tonight I tried it on a picture that I took in my mom's flower garder this year...what do you think?

I found this texture on the Shadow House Creations websites, which has tons and tons of textures (if only I had time to go through and try them all)! If you are interested in downloading any of his textures just click here.
Enjoy!

one little word

"A single word can be a powerful thing. It can be the ripple in the pond that changes everything. It can be sharp and biting or rich and soft and slow. From my own personal experience, it can be a catalyst for enriching your life. "
Ali Edwards

This year I have decided to chose a word of my own to help my keep focus during 2011. I had many words come to mind when I was thinking of what could be my "one little word".

  • simplify

  • care

  • focus (lol...this one would be hard for me)

  • surrender

  • juggle ;)

The word that I have choosen is "be". Be yourself, Be present, Be listening, Be generous, or as one of my great friends said...just Be!

Now I do have to say that I am quite proud of myself. It has taken me 32 years but I think that I am starting to figure me out! I know how committed I am to things, so I thought that picking a broad word like this will make it easy for my when I lose focus ;) We will see how it goes! In order for me to keep on track I am thinking (pretty much 100% sure) that I am going to sign up for Ali's workshop (which is really neat b/c if I have my act together I will have an album from the year focusing on my word)! For anyone else who is interested you can check it out ~ one little word.

I found a texture that has some examples other's have chosen for their "word". I used it on a photo that I took this summer while out cruisin' the back roads!

Wishing everyone health and happiness in 2011!

Welcome 2011!

Resolutions...this year I have decided to boycott resolutions! Lets be honest, I really don't focus on my resolutions after January anyway. That is really being generous because I probably don't remember them mid-January as I have the attention span of a flea!
This year I have decided to work on my Bucket List instead. I bought a special book for this while shopping with a good friend and I have only put a few dreams/goals down. I have a few sheets kicking around that I wrote things on years ago so I would like to find them and add them to the list! Of course being the slacker that I am I put a few things on my list that I can already cross out! Such as...be a mom, taking a photography class, backpacking with my family across Europe (oops, won't be able to cross that one off yet!), teaching overseas, staying up all night, ,completing a post secondary degree. So that is something that I am going to focus on in the month of January...getting everthing that I aspire to do in life down in this little brown book...then I have to remember where I put it...then I have to remember to add to it when things pop into my crazy mind. Well, that can be something that I focus on in 2012 ;)
